Possible Problems That May Be Encountered
Error: "Sharing Violation on drive??"
Solution: If you get the above error message while running any of the Windows CBT products, you probably have the DOS environment TEMP variable set to a network drive. In order to solve this problem, set the DOS environment TEMP variable in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to a local or virtual drive. This is necessary when running under Windows 3.1. However, it is not necessary under Windows 3.0.
Example: SET TEMP=C:\TEMP
Error: Unable to access the lessons.
Solution: If you are unable to access the lessons, and you see that the triangles that bullet the lessons are not black in color, there was a problem with the installation of the CBT. Although no error messages will be displayed upon install or execution of the CBT, There was a problem with the install. At that point, the CBT should be reinstalled.
CBT Installation Procedures Under the OS/2 Environment
The CBT products have not been tested and are not supported under the OS/2 operating system. However, some of the Novell customers have gotten the CBT products foe Windows to work. The following is on customers steps to get the Windows CBT products work with OS/2 2.0.

(thanks to Bill Marut of IBM for volunteering the above information)
Problem: Unable to see the full screen of the CBT when running with windows 3.1--the button bar is not completely visible.
Products affected:
Introduction to Networking (105C)
Networking Technologies (200C)
NetWare 3.11 System Manager (505C)
The products listed above were written for windows v3.0. When windows v3.1 was released, a problem was reported with these products. The symptom was that the button bar at the bottom of the screen could not be viewed in its entirety.
Solution:
Updates are available on compuserve which correct this problem. The updates are located in NOVLIB\02 and are titled:
NVCBT1.ZIP--for Introduction to Networking
NVCBT2.ZIP--for Networking Technologies
NVCBT3.ZIP--for NetWare 3.11 System Manager
The corrections were made and used prior to release of the NetWare 3.11 Advanced System Manager CBT.
There is a readme file with each ZIP file to explain procedures for installing the updates.
Problem: When using a CBT course, the error message "Files for this module are not installed" is given when attempting to start a lesson by clicking on a grey triangle.
Solution: Verify that the following statement is being set prior to starting the CBT.
SET NOVINI=C:\NOVINI
This statement assumes the CBT is installed on the C: drive. Also, it may be necessary to enlarge the environment size in the DOS shell statement to allow proper function of the SET command.
Problem: Screen Ripple, is noticed when running the CBT on Windows v3.1 but not noticeable on v3.0.
Solution: None at this time. A fix is being worked on and will be part of a future release.

1. LOGIN or ATTACH to 311TEST (guest should work, this gives access to the next step)
2. LOGIN PRV_LRC_I\W_LEARN

For v4.0 Introduction CBT
1. Map drive H to prv-techinfo/sys:cbt\40intro.cbt
2. set a DOS environment variable NOVINI=H:\CBT\40INTRO.CBT
3. Be sure drive F: is pointing to a directory in which you have read/write rights
4. Run Windows
5. In Windows run H:\CBT\40INTRO.CBT\INT40.EXE
(this creates a group and program item for the CBT)
6. double click on the icon
7. Enter your name when prompted
8. Enter an ID code when prompted
Each time you run the CBT you will need to have the DOS variable set and drive H pointing to the correct directory. (any questions on 4.0 CBT refer to Howard Olson)
